So Who got their name at Facebook? Post it here!

June 19, 2009 by Shane Isaacs · 3 Comments

Facebook MyName So the mad rush is finally over! Everyone had the opportunity to be the first to get their own names as a Facebook link. I’ve been curious as to who made the cut so to speak. Happily I can say I was able to secure mine, beating out all the other Shane Isaacs’s in the world… sorry guys, lol.

You can now find me at http://www.facebook.com/shane.isaacs. This is so much easier than trying to add the old links or run it through it a redirect. I’ve checked out a few of my friends so far, ones I thought for sure would have jumped on this, but they missed the boat apparently… or went for something cooler maybe?? So lets find out what everyone got! Come one, post yours in the comments below! If we are not friends yet please feel free to add me!

In case you haven’t done yours yet, or don’t know how, here is what to do. Log into Facebook and then click this link http://www.facebook.com/username and follow the instructions. That’s it! Then leave a comment showing off your new Facebook link!

TWIT While You’re Ahead! The Downside of 140 Characters or less

April 22, 2009 by Shane Isaacs · Leave a Comment

Every second of every day millions of tweets, status updates, post and comments flutter through the air waves seeking their intended targets. At home, work or on the road with our laptops and cell phones we have the ability to tell the world everything we do, as we do it, and hear what others have to say about it instantly. The digital diary of our lives and those we share it can be viewed, reviewed and interpreted immediately by those we chose to express ourselves to. This inevitably leaves the opening for the abbreviated versions of our feelings or ideas to be misconstrued unwittingly and taken in the wrong context.

Now don’t get me wrong, I love the concept. Use it too. It’s just that as this becomes more and more the norm for communication I wonder if a little more thought should be put into what we say. This doesn't stem from a personal experience mind you, so all of my friends or followers and ect can breathe easy now, lol. What got me thinking about this was another stream I was watching. Basically I took the weekend off to spend some time with my family. When Monday rolled around and I was catching up on everything that happened while I was out I came across a feed between two friends that I was not sure how to take. Then I began wondering how each of them had taken what the other said also. My first impression was of offense that he/she would have been replied to that way, what was theirs? Or was I just misreading to original post becasue I was feeling a little pressured to get caught up?

Recent site update: please report bugs

April 19, 2009 by Shane Isaacs · 3 Comments

Yesterday we shut down for about an hour to restructure the directories of the website. You should not notice any difference in the operation of the site from this update.

If you do please report them by posting a comment here or using the contact link above. The types of issues that may arise from this are missing pictures, broken links or 404′s.

I think I updated everything accordingly as I modified the directories but there always seems to be that one thing that got missed.

Thanks!

He Wants WHAT Tattooed WHERE?!?

Ok. Everyone is always asking me where I come up with some of the stuff I do. Am I just not ‘right in the head’? Maybe I was dropped on my head as a baby. Some just want to know exactly how far away were the power lines from my house. Well I have proof, right here, that it is not just me! My whole family is nuts (and I mean that in the nicest and most loving way, of course). Recently this little tidbit of humor scrolled across my FaceBook:

The Quest to Find Your Facebook RSS Feed

April 9, 2009 by Shane Isaacs · Leave a Comment

I know its there. I know this feature is available. I know I’ve seen it before… BUT WHERE IS IT! Maybe it’s the newest FaceBook Update hiding the formerly quick and easy link to find your own feed or maybe I just got lucky before but I know I’ve seen it. It really is remarkable how hard it is to find and since there really is no way to show your status updates from Facebook on many other platforms using the RSS feed they provide is about the only way.

So why then is it so hard to find? Well, if you were to ask me I would guess they don’t want you readily being able to post your status updates anywhere someone wouldn’t have to join FaceBook to see them. Talk about Control Freaks! But for people like me, who have found that FaceBook seems to be running horribly slow and ‘buggy’ since the last update but don’t want to abandon it completely, finding alternate means of using it is critical.
